A good photo should create a little story around the image in your head. Or it should impress you just by colors, forms and the play of light and shadow.
Some people think a good photo should always be perfect in exposure and sharpness. But there are photos which are great although they lack in these points. Because they reflect a special situation oder express an emotion besides just technical features.
Photos never reflect an objective truth. Just the fact alone that the photographer takes this special photo constitutes a subjective perception. The selection of the image clipping, the distance to the object etc. strengthens this. Additionally are there today a multitude of digital tools in electronic picture editing.
Digital pictures have to be developed in special software and can be extremely modified. I try to keep the photos mostly as originally as possible because I don't like extreme effects and composing. I limit my workflow to those possibilities you already had in the old-fashioned darkroom.
